I've just started reading "Liar in a crowded theater" by Jeff Kosseff", dealing with First Amendment rights. One thing I have learned already is that while 'public figures' must prove "actual malice" to win a defamation suit against a newspaper, the bar for winning a defamation suit by a 'regular citizen' is much lower. I wonder if it is time to start suing these newspapers for knowingly false pieces like "Washington Underwater" for libel?

This is great stuff. I am curious how this data shakes out in reference to other regions, as I've seen some pretty scary flooding reports out of Bangladesh, for instance.

Oh stop already with the facts and the data and the science! We have a world to save and what counts is how we all feel about it! And it's not good, ok! The world is burning and drowning...at the same time! 😆

Flood control in some instances has come at a considerable expense to anadromous fish like steelhead and Coho in my region. The river which was a flooding nuisance to property and life was straightened and levied in the 1950s and before that was world class fishing for salmon. I wrote about that here: https://californialocal.com/localnews/santa-cruz/ca/article/show/24241-history-of-the-san-lorenzo-river/
