There IS no problem with an outright ban on transgender men competing in women's sports. There is no inherent 'right' for the incredibly small proportion of transgender men to destroy women's sports. It's not a religious thing - it is JUST COMMON SENSE!

The fact that there is even a discussion about this is incredibly stupid, and only indicates that the insane asylum inmates have taken over the institution.

When it comes down to it, you are simply creating a problem where there is none. The solution is simple, if they are biologically male they compete as males. If they are biologically female they compete as females. By biologically, a simple visual or chromosome analysis is all that is required. Its been that way for decades, and worked just fine. 'Feelings' are not relevant in this discussion.

The FINA decision seemed to me to meet all the criteria that Roger puts forward. First, the decision was to exclude trans-women who had passed through a male puberty regardless of present day testosterone levels.

A major deciding factor was a comparison of world and Australian records for various swimming events between women and males from 14 yo upwards. There were no records in which the women's record exceeded the 14 & 15 year old boys'. This, to me, is very strong evidence that the changes that happen in the male body through puberty, particularly upper body strength and architecture, height and lung capacity, result in bodily changes that overwhelmingly advantage male bodies in swimming.

As Roger points out, there will be many sports where this advantage is not as great: Archery, Equestrianism, shooting, some gymnastic equipment come easily to mind. Sports in which strength and/or moving at speed are basic factors will be subject to this developmental constant.

Cheers,

Simon
