If their models cannot explain (let alone predict) our slowly warming climate with decent accuracy, I for one refuse to pay any attention to the policy prescriptions of the climate scientists. They have unintentionally performed a great disservice to society. They have provided a convenient scapegoat (CO2 from fossil fuels) that politicians can blame for the consequences of their own incompetence (I'm looking at you Newsom, Bass, et al.). Even worse, they have diverted attention and resources away from the very real disasters that have always occurred. The whole folly of the rush to Net Zero, and the money wasted on it, could have been avoided if climate scientists had focused instead on mitigation and adaptation. It is harsh to say, but climate scientists bear some responsibility for the lives lost in CA over the last few days.

"The best that we can say is that the world will continue slowly to decarbonize its energy system and, at the same time, the Earth will continue slowly to warm. And societies will continue to adapt to evolving climate hazards in new ways, as they have always done, with winners and losers along the way."

Not bad, I can agree with that.
