It seems to me that the number of deaths from natural events is a much more important measure of civilization's health and resilience than minutiae such as hundredth-degree changes in global average surface temperature, or statistical oscillations in seasonal sea ice coverage. Yet we are bombarded by prophets of doom who hyperventilate about the latter while ignoring the former.

Well, it appears global warming has been good for the human population. And increased use of fossil fuels as well. Go figure. 🙂
