Roger, Thanks for another great article.

I'm having a tough time squaring the projected North American EV adoption numbers with current actions by our car makers. I'm seeing a double or triple in adoption and yet Ford and GM have done a $25B about face on building them. I don't think they believes in the future of EVs. And they tried to be "all in", but without subsidies they can't make it work.

And tell me how we're going to afford this move. Student Load debt, Credit Card Debt, Housing cost increases? 20% of vehicle trade-ins currently have negative equity. The virtue signalers are spent, the next wave will have to be value buyers. I just don't see that happening.

Very good post except:

"Whether or not fossil fuels peak in the near term, the larger context here is that fossil fuels are here to stay for much of this century under the IEA’s projections. Even so, the agency projects global temperatures to increase by less than 3 degrees Celsius by 2100, which is in line with other projections."

As I am sure that everyone here understands, this framing is misleading as written. Approximately half of this 3 degrees is in the rear view mirror and the remainder is probably between 1 and 1.5 degrees. You would be doing the Dispatch readers a service by clarifying this.
