Pielke's Weekly Memo #10
The most misunderstood term in climate science, perils of following the science, recommended podcasts, readings and a classic goal of the week
As readers here will know, I have just relocated to Oslo for the fall as part of my academic sabbatical. I’m thrilled to be here. As I get settled posting might be a bit more infrequent over the next week, but there is so much good stuff to share, so we shall see.
In this week’s memo I discuss a candidate for the most widely misunderstood term in all of climate science, I’ll preview coming discussions on perils of “following the science” (COVID-19 focused) and I have some podcasts and readings to recommend. As as is now a feature here, I’ll also share a goal of the week — this one was allegedly the first video on YouTube to hit 1 million downloads, and deservingly so.
Before taking the jump, a pitch: I have this audacious idea that over time I can become a truly independent researcher and writer, supported by thousands of engaged readers. We shall see how the experiment turns out, but three months in I am optimistic. So please consider subscribing at any level — free or paid — and if you are already subscribing, please consider an upgrade, and support the experiment! And if you like what your read here, please share so other can join the community.
As always, I welcome you comments here, email and DMs on Twitter. Let’s get to it . . .
