The good guy vs. bad guy trope is exhausting. As someone who's built and deployed climate solutions for a quarter century, I never listened too much to Bill Gates anyway. Even when one political side told us relentlessly to believe him because, you know, he invented software - I viewed his opinions as nice marketing, a nice "win" for political messaging.

But now that he's abandoned The Message he's Satan. Yawn. And now he's actually right: climate change is a problem that should be addressed, but it's not the end of the world. Duh.

Remember when Elon Musk was The Hero because he made EVs? Now he's Satan too because he drinks coffee with the "wrong" people. And yet we need those "wrong" people to still pay the taxes because the bill is a whopper.

But all is not lost. It's just refreshing to see pragmatism and honesty creep into the climate discussion. And to actually have a discussion at all is welcome!
